What We Believe

WHAT WE BELIEVE

HOLY SCRIPTURES
The Bible is the inerrant, divinely inspired, and only authoritative Word of God. It is the only infallible rule of faith and practice, and it is our ultimate authority in every area of life.

THE TRINITY
There is one God who in His Being is a Trinity: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. He is Sovereign overall, working everything according to His counsel, purpose, and plan. No person, thing or event is outside of His plan and control.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who, being born of the Virgin Mary, is also the Son of Man. We believe the Bible record of His sinless life, sacrificial death for the sins of His people, resurrection from the grave, ascension into heaven and promise of return to judge the world and gather His people.

The Holy Spirit is coequal and coeternal with God the Father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit brings an awareness of guilt, brings about the new birth, and indwells the believer that he may lead a godly life.

SALVATION
All men are sinners by nature, being born with a sinful heart. We become children of God by the true repentance of our sins and by believing in Christ as Savior. God alone is able to change our hearts, and He does this through the Holy Spirit. This work is called regeneration or being born again. The sins of those who have saving faith have been placed on Jesus, and He was judged in their place. We are saved only by His Grace through faith not by any work of our own. A Christian’s faith is awakened and strengthened by the hearing of the Word of God. Believers strive to express this saving faith through the total commitment of their lives to Christ as Savior and Lord.

CHRISTIAN LIFE
The Christian life is summed up in the two great commandments: to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. God’s work in our lives should be apparent as Christians will live differently than the world.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD
We live expectantly for the return of our Lord and Savior, believing that He will come to take us to the place He has prepared for us and judge the world in His righteousness.
